Pet Insurance

Safeguard you and your pet against unexpected injuries or illnesses at any time with pet insurance.
A good pet insurance policy will cover:
  • Accidents - such as a broken leg, road traffic accident, bite wound, accidental ingestion, snake bite, tick paralysis, or emergency surgery to relieve an intestinal obstruction.
  • Emergencies - things that happen at the worst possible moment, necessitating a trip to an emergency clinic.
  •  Illness - such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, respiratory disease.
  •  Long term conditions - such as allergies, skin disease, diabetes, orthopaedic conditions, heart disease
  • Lameness - such as cruciate ligament disease.
  • Third party cover - should your pet accidentally cause damage to other pets, people or property.

All of the above can start from any age.  We recommend insuring your pet before any condition begins, otherwise it will be excluded from your policy, and you won’t get the most value for your money.

Rather than recommending a particular pet insurance company, we recommend purchasing the following cover:

  • Lifelong cover - this means that a condition won’t be excluded after the first 12 months.
  • Adequate total annual cover - ensuring it's not just accidental injury.
  •  Minimal exclusions - so that you're covered for more conditions when you need it most.

Pet insurance should cover:

- Consultations
- Investigations (blood tests, x-rays, ultrasound)
- Treatments (medications, surgery, follow up check ups and procedures)

Policies generally do not cover routine care (desexing, vaccinations, parasite control and dental care) as this is considered a pre-forseen and routine cost of pets’ healthcare.

GapOnly cover is available for most of the available pet insurance companies in Australia.  GapOnly allows you to pay the excess and any exclusions directly to the vet, and the remainder is settled directly on your behalf.  You don’t have to wait for reimbursement, and no forms to fill in - we can do that for you.
