FAQs

What should I do if I think my pet is having an emergency?

Call us straight away, our team will be able to guide you through what might be happening and what is needed

Do I need to call before bringing my pet in?

Letting us know you're on your way really helps. It allows us to prepare for emergency care or resuscitation and, if needed, adjust routine appointments to ensure we're ready to help you and your pet as soon as you arrive.

In rare cases, a vet may not be immediately available (for example, if they're attending a home visit). In such situations, we may advise you to go directly to an emergency veterinary clinic instead.

What if I’m not sure it’s an emergency?

Emergency situations are not always clear at the start, and some very alarming symptoms may not be an emergency.

The best thing to do is call us so we can advise you on the next steps.  If in doubt, please call - there is no problem too big or too small!

Can you see my pet after hours in an emergency?

If we are closed, we recommend contacting Advanced Vet Care in Kew at (03) 9020 3555. They’re located just minutes away and are fully staffed and equipped to provide high-quality veterinary care 24 hours a day.

What should I bring to an emergency visit?

If your pet may have ingested something toxic or harmful, please bring any remaining packaging or product details with you.

For items like toys or bones, bringing any leftover pieces can also assist us in assessing the risk.

How much does a pet emergency visit cost?

Our consultation fees are the same for routine and urgent appointments. Additional costs will depend on the nature of your pet’s emergency and treatment needed.

We will discuss this with you at the time.
